Betty, what is your current role in Exide?

I am a Lab Technician.

Tell us about your experience in Exide.

I joined the company in 1975 as Lab Technician. My job involves chemical testing and analyzing leads, oxide and acid. I test lead pots for impurities, alloy content and provide the test results to management along with recommendations.

What do you value most in the Company?

I enjoy my work very much especially the problem solving part of my job. Exide is a big employer in Fort Smith, AR and has been here for many years. Other companies have come and gone but Exide has with stood the test of time. I have been able to provide for my family for over 35 years.

And what about yourself? What do you do after work?

I have been teaching Sunday school at my church for 18 years and have been a part of the hand bell choir for 28 years. One of my life goals has been to lose weight because I was concerned about my health and being able to keep up with my 2 grand babies. I began a diet program and have lost 87 pounds thus far. My co-workers have seen my dedication and have begun to follow the same diet plan. It makes me feel good to inspire others to lead healthier life style.

What would you tell to someone looking for a job in Exide?

If you are willing to work hard at Exide the opportunities are endless. This is a big company with many locations world wide.
