I am a Team Leader for Flooded Product Development Engineering. My team is responsible for the design and maintenance of the Exide Americas flooded transportation products. We not only support continuous quality and cost improvement efforts, we also work closely with the Exide Americas Sales and Marketing organizations as well as the R&D groups to understand how we can bring innovative products to market.
My favourite aspect of my job is the knowledge that my engineering expertise and background are absolutely necessary for the success of the company as we evaluate decisions that have a direct impact to the overall corporate strategy.
One of the best aspects of Exide, in my opinion, is the ability to make a sizeable impact as a young professional. I feel that self-motivated and eager learners are presented with many opportunities to grow and develop. As an example, I have been tasked with leading a Project Management Implementation initiative across all of North America. My manager recognized my individual strength for managing projects and has challenged me with this great opportunity.
I volunteer with the YMCA Happy Club on the weekends. The Happy Club is an organization that provides teens and adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to develop social and community skills. I have been so blessed to work with some very unique and brilliant people in this organization since I was fifteen years old. The Happy Club participants think it’s pretty cool that I’ve grown up to be a chemical engineer and still drive the short bus on the weekend.
My advice would be to expect to find some really incredible people to work with and to expect that every “win” is born from hard work and a sense of personal pride in one’s work. Exide is a company where every individual contribution is a key to success.
